What attracted you to a career in Wealth Management?
After attending college and aspiring to join financial services, I began my career with Midland Bank in Oxford. 3 years later, I had the opportunity to return to Northern Ireland to continue my career in banking with Northern Bank. Despite finding this work interesting and challenging, I decided to become a financial adviser with the Bank, continuing my studies with Financial Planning Certificate 1,2 &3. Enjoying this change in career and using the new skills that I had acquired and developed, I decided to move in Wealth Management Industry as an Investment Manager in 2000.
An opportunity then presented itself to move to Quilter Cheviot in 2008, following the opening of a new Belfast office. Although, the job of investment management and role has changed significantly, it is never boring, as you always need to keep up with changing investment markets and the effects of global events, macro changes, and among others, on investments.
I am a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, and I hold their Level 7 Diploma in Wealth Management
How do you work/look after clients?
Understanding financial markets can be tricky at the best of times, so it is important to be open, honest, knowledgeable, and always invoke confidence and trust. My aim as an Investment Manager is to build long term trusted relationship with clients and their families, through listening and delivering investment solutions that meet their individual goals and objectives.
I believe personal attention is key and small things matter to clients, so always stay in touch.
What are your interests outside work?
Most of my time outside work is spent with my family, football and at local football club, which I am also a Treasurer. We all love getting outside and going to watch Manchester United several times a year and I like to stay fit through walking, coaching or playing over 50’s football. I also enjoy most sports and play golf and snooker occasionally. Whenever I get a spare minute, I do like to do some gardening and DIY.
