Patrick Good
Head of Wealth Planning
Dublin
What attracted you to a career in wealth management?
Early in my career I figured out that working with numbers and people was where I was happiest. My role as a Financial Planner with Quilter Cheviot Europe combines both these elements very well.
I qualified as a chartered accountant in the late 2000s in EY but quickly moved out of the world of audit and landed in Investment Banking at Investec. I moved on from there in 2019 as the business reorganised after Brexit, retrained as a chartered tax adviser with Kennelly Tax Advisers, who look after High Net Worth Private Clients and then jumped at the opportunity to move to QCE when it arose in 2022. At each stage in my career I was building towards my current role, gaining relevant experience that will help me as I support clients, existing and new, and the team of Investment Managers here in QCE.
How do you approach your role on a daily basis?
My job is to make sure that clients make well informed financial decisions that will, over the long term, help get the best all round results. At QCE we work hard to ensure that each client’s needs and priorities are well considered and thought out and that financial solutions are tailored to their personal requirements.
What are your interests outside of work?
I am a dad to a little boy, husband to a fantastic lady and fierce mother, and I also manage to squeeze in some hockey coaching in my shrinking spare time. When the opportunity allows, I enjoy chasing balls down the edges of fairways and losing them in the rough.
