Ollie Tanner-Smith

Investment Administrator
London

What attracted you to a career in wealth management?

My background stems from studying a BSc Finance and Economics at Lancaster University, graduating in 2022. During my undergraduate degree, I completed a placement year working as a Pensions analyst for Mercer in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I discovered my passion for Wealth Management whilst writing my dissertation, a study on financial literacy in the UK and factors impacting people's preparedness for retirement. Following this, I completed a Master's in Finance at Lancaster University Management School, graduating with a Distinction in 2023; with speciality in Portfolio investment strategies. In April of 2024, I joined Quilter Cheviot as an Investment Administrator, where I'm able to combine my passion for Wealth Management with my aspiration to help our clients to achieve their financial ambitions.

How do you approach your role on a daily basis?

In my role as an Investment Administrator, I provide support to a close, dedicated team of Investment Managers, responsible for £1.3bn AuMA. Through research, portfolio management and client relationship management I support the investment managers in ensuring our clients receive the highest quality service and dedication. The day-to-day job in investment management aligns with my core values in supporting our clients to achieve their financial aims and aspirations.

What are your interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I am a keen sportsman. Most recently I competed in the Ultimate Frisbee; European Championships (2023) and World Championships (2022) competing for a team from Manchester. Alongside Ultimate, I am a keen Cricketer and member of the Quilter Cheviot Cricket team; growing up in Yorkshire, Cricket has always been a big part of my life. In my downtime, I enjoy playing Golf and outside of sports I enjoy travelling, reading, and playing guitar.

The value of your investments and the income from them can fall and you may not recover what you invested.
