Nick Britnell
Chartered Wealth Manager - Executive Director
London
What attracted you to a career in wealth management?
I have worked in the private client arena for over 30 years having found an entry point through a respected stockbroking firm, which was fast evolving to become a full discretionary manager. Prior to that, I completed an Economics degree at university, and was also on a graduate training programme with a large insurance business which afforded exposure to many business channels including Investment Management, which interested me greatly and still does. The fluid nature of markets and the sheer complexity of the numerous inter-twinned participants and changing landscape, is something which has always held my attention.
The private client business, that I have grown with, has developed through periods of ownership of by various firms including Morgan Stanley and Citigroup as well as private ownership culminating in the current ownership and part of a listed financial services company.
How do you approach your role on a daily basis?
I now head one of the largest London Investment Management teams and continue to maintain a full book of business which has been built up over my career. Those clients include directly introduced ones as well those from a wide range of professional connections including accountants, solicitors and IFAs. I have built many deep and trusted relationships over the years, and always look to try and deliver a reliable and comprehensive service, that is robust yet flexible and welcoming at all times.
What are your interests outside of work?
Outside of work I live near the Suffolk coast and have many interests including fishing, some sailing and gardening when time permits. My wife & I also have three sons who are now through further education and embarking on their own careers and busy lives which equally keeps us engaged and on hand as required, although we do escape, periodically, for a foreign adventure or two.
