Investment Manager

What attracted you to a career in wealth management?
I have always been fascinated by the power of wealth and the impact it can have on your standard of living. Through my master’s degree in Investments at the University of Birmingham, I became more aware of the possibilities within the industry, moving away from my childhood aim of working in veterinary. After exploring a few options, I found my home at Quilter Cheviot in 2014, originally in the Birmingham office as a Trainee Investment Manager. Despite fully qualifying and subsequently moving down to London in 2017, my thoughts on wealth have remained the same; it is there to facilitate life – be it yours, subsequent generations, trust or charity beneficiaries. My everyday aim is to continue helping clients reach their financial goals through long-term investment.
What would you like to achieve for clients?
My primary role is to construct and actively manage portfolios for private clients, charities and trusts. We aim to create a balance between risk and return suitable for each individual or entity through the use of various asset classes such as Equities, Fixed Interest, Property and Infrastructure amongst others.
A large portion of our investment is outcome led – what does the individual client aim to achieve? Are they saving for retirement? Do they have small children that they would like to start putting assets aside for? If the client is a charity, for instance, what are the needs of the beneficiaries and how best can the investments be skewed to provide the best result? Does the client have responsible investing views that they would like to take into account? All of these feed into what I see as doing my role successfully. By building strong relationships whereby clients know I have their best interests at heart, I aim to provide solutions to clients’ individual needs.
What else are you passionate about?
Outside of work, my main hobbies are sport and travelling. I play Ultimate Frisbee for GB and Reading (8th at the last World Club Championships) but try to get a ski holiday in whenever time permits! I’ve been lucky enough to visit over 50 countries to date but the list of where to go next never seems to get shorter. Any client recommendations much appreciated, even if just to narrow down next year’s choices.
