Jake Durling
Trainee Investment Manager
Salisbury
What attracted you to a career in wealth management/financial planning?
I joined Quilter Cheviot in 2022 after graduating with honours in Economics and Finance from the University of Surrey. I am an Associate member of the CISI, holding the Level 4 Investment Advice Diploma, and currently studying towards the Chartered Wealth Manager Qualification. One of the key factors which attracted me to a career in Wealth Management is the ability to further pursue my interest in global financial markets and learning how to apply this to make a tangible impact for clients, all whilst developing strong personal relationships and taking pride in delivering an outstanding service.
What would you like to achieve for clients?
As a Trainee Investment Manager, I work with Oliver Stainer to provide a Discretionary Investment Management service to UK and South African clients, assisting across several aspects of portfolio management, client suitability, research, and administration. We work across a diverse range of UK and Global direct equity portfolios for private clients, onshore/offshore trusts, and charities, with mandates tailored to client’s requirements and investment preferences including Responsible Investment/ESG. Ultimately, I look to provide the highest levels of satisfaction for clients and advisers we work with.
What else are you passionate about?
One of the things I am passionate about in my role is the opportunity to meet people - building rapport with current/prospective clients and developing professional relationships through events across the year and day-to-day interactions. Outside of work, I am involved in a range of sports, having played hockey for over a decade now, alongside enjoying football, snowboarding, and training at the gym (as well as occasionally trying to improve on the driving range!) Around my study and sporting interests, I also play piano, and enjoy learning new pieces (such as Nuvole Bianche as a recent example).
