What attracted you to a career in wealth management?
My journey in wealth management began as a Relationship Manager at Citi Investment Bank, where I managed relationships for their largest institutional Scottish clients. I later joined Quilter Cheviot in 2009, drawn by the opportunity to work closely with clients and their investments. With a BA Hons from Strathclyde University and Chartered FCSI qualification in a Masters in Wealth Management, I currently serve as an Executive Director in Glasgow Office where I manage my team and a wide range of clients, from private portfolios, pensions, offshore bonds, corporate accounts and I am also part of the Quilter Cheviot Charity Team and specialise I in managing charity mandates for Scottish charities. I find the challenge of helping all clients navigate the financial landscape both stimulating and rewarding.
How do you approach your role on a daily basis?
As an Investment Manager for over a decade, my role involves managing a diverse array of client portfolios and I collaborate closely with professional intermediaries, assisting them in finding tailored investment solutions. I believe that for a certain level of wealth, a personalised, bespoke service is required to meet clients' financial objectives. This includes regular communication and meetings to ensure that their long-term financial aims are met, and through meeting clients and their intermediaries allows me to better understand my client's requirements, which ultimately allows me to manage their investments more efficiently.
What are your interests outside of work?
Beyond my professional pursuits, I have a passion for travelling and exploring new destinations, although this has been curtailed more recently to short haul over long, as I have a young family. It is my two young girls and wife that takes up most of my spare time, along with socialising with friends. However, as an avid ex sportsman I do try to keep fit when I can, via the gym and playing 5 aside football.
