Bertie Butler

Investment Manager
London

What attracted you to a career in wealth management?

My career in investment management started at Kleinwort Benson, before joining Quilter Cheviot in 2015. I completed the Investment Advice Diploma (IAD) followed by the Chartered Wealth Manager Masters certification, before becoming an Investment Manager in 2018. My academic background in Economics at university, along with a desire for a client-facing career, drew me to the industry, enabling me to apply my financial expertise to directly benefit clients.

How do you approach your role on a daily basis?

As an Investment Manager at Quilter Cheviot, my primary responsibility is managing portfolios for a diverse range of clients, including individuals, families, trusts, charities, pensions, corporates and offshore bonds. I take a personalised approach, tailoring investment strategies to align with each client's unique financial objectives and preferences. As well as building strong relationships with high-net-worth clients, including keeping them updated with regular communications and strategic reviews of their portfolios, I also work closely with a number of financial advisers, accountants and solicitors. I am also a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments (CISI).

What are your interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I have a passion for horse racing, whilst also being a loyal Norwich City fan. I enjoy trying new London restaurants and keeping as fit as possible, although having a young son can make both easier said than done.

The value of your investments and the income from them can fall and you may not recover what you invested.
