Antony Webb

Head of MPS Investment Funds
London

What attracted you to a career in wealth management?

I began working in wealth management in 2010 after studying economics at University College London (UCL). Joining Quilter Cheviot was an opportunity to put theory into practice, whilst also furthering my study through the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and the CISI Masters in Wealth Management. Financial markets provide a pounds and pence context for many of the key economic & geo-political developments in the world; distilling these complex inter-related factors into clear investment decisions is a challenging pursuit that drives many of the most enjoyable aspects of my role.

How do you approach your role on a daily basis?

As Head of MPS Investment Funds, my primary focus is on running the £1.7bn of client assets within our MPS “Building Block” investment funds. I was a key architect of the funds before their launch in 2021, designing their structure and use within our Managed Portfolio Service at Quilter Cheviot. As part of my role, I sit on many of the firm’s investment committees – helping to determine model allocations for Fixed Interest, Direct Stocks, Investment Funds and Alternative Investments.

What are your interests outside of work?

Outside of work I like to travel, especially to ski or surf. When the weather’s good I love to head out on my motorbike for a ride around town or out into the countryside.

The value of your investments and the income from them can fall and you may not recover what you invested.
