What attracted you to a career in wealth management?
I joined Quilter Cheviot and the Wealth Management industry in 2017 following a seven-year professional sports career with Leicestershire County Cricket Club. While I believed my prospects were quite broad at the time of transitioning career, I wanted to build on my strengths and transferrable skills, as well as my Open University degree in Economics, that I developed during my time in professional sport. Looking back, I am pleased with my choice in second career, given that I am continuously able to learn and develop, push myself towards aligned personal and client goals, whilst also being able to build longstanding, trustworthy relationships with clients.
What would you like to achieve for clients?
As an Investment Manager and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments (Chartered MCSI), my main, everyday aim throughout my career is to strive towards making a positive impact on my clients’ financial aims. My priority is to provide an outstanding service to every client along their respective investment journey, tailoring my communication style to match my client’s needs thereby making financial terminology easier to understand and more accessible. I take pride in the fact that my clients know that their investment portfolios are taken care of with the highest qualitative standards, backed by extensive research and unique industry insights.
What are you passionate about in life?
Outside of work, besides enjoying quality time with my young family, sport has played a huge role in my life. Alongside hard work, I feel very lucky to have had a professional sports career in a sport that I have been passionate about since a very early age, cricket. It gave me opportunities to enjoy extended stays and immerse myself in the cultures of countries such as South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. I continue to play, time permitting, for my hometown Kenilworth (Kenilworth Wardens CC) in the Birmingham League as well as being a playing member of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). In addition to cricket, I particularly enjoy playing golf and watching rugby, having been a Leicester Tigers fan from an early age.
