William Schofield

Trainee Investment Manager
London

What attracted you to a career in wealth management?

My journey in wealth management started with a strong foundation in the financial sector. I began as an Investment Support professional at Brewin Dolphin, where I conducted research and assessments for senior fund managers. My role involved evaluating client risk tolerance and proposing suitable investment solutions. Following this, I continued to enhance my knowledge during an internship at Royal London Asset Management, gaining valuable insights into the asset management business. This background, coupled with my enthusiasm for the industry, drew me into the field of wealth management.

How do you approach your role on a daily basis?

As a Trainee Investment Manager at Quilter Cheviot, my role involves managing client portfolios and helping them achieve their financial goals. I have been in this client-facing position for over four years. I prioritize personalized service, working closely with clients to understand their unique objectives and expectations. I help create tailored investment solutions that align with their needs, rather than adhering to a one-size-fits-all approach. Regular and thorough communication ensures that we continually review and adapt their portfolios to match evolving goals.

What are your interests outside of work?

Beyond my professional interests, I am an advocate of staying active. I enjoy playing football, tennis, cricket, and running, which not only keeps me fit but also provides a balanced contrast to the demands of the financial sector. Additionally, I have a passion for skiing, embracing the exhilaration of the slopes. These activities, along with my commitment to volunteering, contribute to a well-rounded and fulfilling life outside of work.

The value of your investments and the income from them can fall and you may not recover what you invested.
