Head of Advice
Jersey

What attracted you to a career in wealth management?

The opportunity work directly with clients to help them identify and realise their financial aspirations.

I embarked on my journey in wealth management 25 years ago, when leaving my original career in engineering to become a financial planner with Sun Life of Canada. I have since worked with several IFA practices, before creating my own Financial Planning business in 2012 where my role was MD.

Quilter Private Client Advisers purchased my business in 2017, and I subsequently joined the business as a Regional Director, initially in Birmingham before moving to run the London and Southwest regions.

My previous experiences and backgrounds prepared me well for the challenges and complexities of this role. The opportunity to work closely with an exciting new business, with the ability to help shape and grow its future, was a significant driver for me.

How do you approach your role on a daily basis?

As the Head of Advice at Quilter Cheviot International Ltd since August 2023, my role is to introduce and grow the businesses financial planning capabilities across our international territories, starting in Jersey.

I enjoy working with the wider team to discover new business opportunities, improve our ways of working together and creating a collaborative culture in which we can all thrive.

What are your interests outside of work?

Beyond my professional interests, I have dedicated my personal time to football for the last 30 years, as a player and coach, including serving as the director of football for Newtown AFC. Additionally, I also enjoy golf, walking and attending the gym (most of the time). These pursuits help me unwind and maintain a balanced life outside of the wealth management world.

I am enjoying exploring the beautiful island of Jersey, the beaches and walks are amazing, and the people have been most welcoming. The food is not too bad either!

The value of your investments and the income from them can fall and you may not recover what you invested.
