What attracted you to a career in wealth management?

After a few years in the British Army, serving in the Royal Anglian Regiment after graduating from university, I identified wealth management as the career for me due to the mix of technical and strategic planning and helping real people with their own personal finances, rather than moving money around purely for monetary gain. Building relationships with clients over years, helping them achieve what they want out of life, is the part of the job I love the most.

How do you approach your role on a daily basis?

I work primarily with high net-worth senior directors, business owners and their families on retirement planning, putting plans in place for the transition into retirement and beyond. I believe in getting to know clients and their families, working out what their values are and what they want to achieve first and foremost, before helping to align finances with this. Offering a great level of service is important to me, as I want clients to have no worries around their finances and have confidence in the financial plans we have put in place.

What are your interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I play squash for Thirsk Squash Club, have recently taken up clay pigeon shooting and have built up a garage gym to keep fit in.

The value of your investments and the income from them can fall and you may not recover what you invested.
